Paul Friedland is an independent arbitrator.  Friedland was a New York-based partner at White & Case from 1997 to 2025 and served as global head of the White & Case international arbitration group from 2002 to 2019.

He has been repeatedly ranked as a Band 1 practitioner by Chambers Global and Chambers USA, and recognized in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame. 
 
Friedland has held numerous leadership roles in the field, including serving as Co-Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee and as a member of both the LCIA Court and the SIAC Court.

Friedland has written and lectured extensively across the world. He is the author of Arbitration Clauses for International Contracts, described as a “must-have for all practitioners working in … international arbitration” (New York Law Journal, April 2008).

Friedland continues to act as counsel for longstanding clients in the insurance and energy sectors, but otherwise accepts appointments only as arbitrator.
